Magic 2012 Expansion Pack: Be the Archenemy

The downloadable versions of Magic: The Gathering have been incredibly popular on Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) and Steam. Earlier this year we got the excellent sequel Magic: The Gathering -- Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 and next month we'll be enjoying an expansion pack that adds new cards, challenges, and a twist to the very cool Archenemy mode.

Simply called Expansion, the new content will be available September 14 for both XBLA and Steam. After downloading you'll find a new tab in the main menu that will take you to all the new goodies. Four cards will be added to all existing decks and we'll get a preview of the new Innastrade set for the Magic real-world card game. Three entirely new decks will be added, along with an interesting new campaign.

Magic 2012 had an Archenemy mode that pitted three players against one ridiculously powerful Archenemy. The expansion's campaign casts you as the Archenemy and lets you decimate trio after trio of opponents.

Multiplayer is also being updated so that one player can be the Archenemy and everyone else can gang up on him or her.

A price for the expansion hasn't been announced, yet, but I'm definitely going to be playing come September 14.
