The Razer Ouroboros and Why I've Always Wanted to Have It

You need only one look at the Ouroboros to tell it’s marketed as a premium product from Razer. There are no cardboard boxes (however sturdy) for this mouse: it comes in a see-through cube, replete with a little stand, with its packaging and manuals tucked away in the base. It’s like an expensive airplane model, made with love and mounted in a fibreglass box for the world to admire.

The Ouroboros is named after the serpent forever doomed to eat its tail, and it’s easy to draw some similarity between that cyclic symbol and the ambidextrous mouse. Unlike some of its cousins, Razer’s Ouroboros mouse is for both left and right handers, which makes it a good buy – if you’re willing to drop the cash on it.

Razer Comms Goes Open Beta

Razer has rolled out an open beta of its Razer Comms service, something it says is a one-stop-shop sort of communications solution for gamers around the world. Razer Comms initially started off as a closed beta, which supplied the company with feedback from those who were part of the program. Using that information, changes were made to the program, and now everyone can check them out.

Razer Comms is a free all-in-one communications solution for gamers, offering crystal clear VoIP and versatile instant messaging with group chat capabilities. Built with advanced in-game overlay functionality and cross-game chat support, Razer Comms allows you to get in touch with your friends without compromising your gameplay. This is how gamers were meant to communicate.

Razer Edge: The Tablet For All Your Gaming Needs

Simply put, the Razer Edge is a pure gaming tablet. But it’s not that simple. With the right accessories, the Edge transforms from a tablet to a gaming machine to a desktop. Picture the Microsoft Surface Pro but instead of being designed for productivity, it’s a portable gaming rig.

Razer introduced its gaming tablet concept at CES 2012. Called Project Fiona then, the company turned to its millions of fans on social networks and used the last year to essentially crowd-design the final project. It’s not a stretch to say the Razer Edge was built by gamers for gamers.

The New Razer Blade: The Beastly Beauty

First revealed a year ago, the Razer Blade was a fascinating machine. Dubbed "The World's First True Gaming Laptop" by its makers, the $2,800 17-inch machine, weighing less than seven pounds, was a bold experiment that traded power for portability, and portability for price.

The experiment was an overwhelming success. Earlier this year the Blade hit the PC market, garnering mostly favorable reviews. Despite performance that fell short of comparably-priced traditional laptops, the Blade's sleek profile and startling portability drove strong sales — Razer could barely keep up with the demand.

And now that Razer has proven the power of the Blade to customers, critics and suppliers, it's time for an upgrade.

Meet the new Razer Blade. It's much more powerful, and costs $300 less.

Razer's Project Fiona: A Tablet for PC Gamers

Razer--generally known for its gaming peripherals--is working on a tablet called Project Fiona. Let's just file this under "wholly unexpected."

With smartphones and tablets becoming so popular, and more apps available than you can shake a stick at, mobile gaming is becoming an increasingly lucrative market. However, the problem is that most of the games being played on tablets and smartphones are of the casual variety. The mobile industry might have advanced to the point where we have quad-core phones and tablets, but hardcore PC gamers don't want to play Cut the Rope or Angry Birds.

With latest games providing HD visual experiences, users normally fall short on the audio part and to put that aside the Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset claims to do so with its true-to-life pinpoint audio system and the ten discrete speaker drivers. Also, accompanying the accessory is the Razer Tiamat 2.2 stereo gaming headset, holding four individual speakers and two bass subwoofers.
