Critter Camp Comes Out With a Bang for the iOS

A new mobile game app created by a team of Pinoy misfits of the local game development industry has just been launched and is now wreaking havoc on iPhone screens.

Ever since the rise in popularity of monster trainer games like Pokemon and Monster Rancher, many developers have sought to follow in their wake. At first glance, Critter Camp seems to be just another one of those games, going on a series of quests to level up and what not. What sets it apart however, is how you build up your critters’ stats.

Mini Games

Critter Camp introduces four different mini games – The Pit, Tracks, Gym and Library, which would give your critter different stat attributes.

Bonding with Cousins at Sandbox and Camalig

Let's take a break from the usual gaming stuff that I post. This entry is a must: I have never had this much fun in a very long time.

My cousins and I have an annual post-Christmas bonding time and for this year, we decided to go to Sandbox in Porac, Pampanga. We were all very excited for the trip, since it was out first time to go out-of-town together as a group.

See how psyched everyone is?

There were a lot of people, thus very long lines starting from the entrance down to every single attraction. But hey, we went there to have fun, and how much fun we did have!

Journey To The West International: The Monkey King Cometh!

Remember the anime Gensomaden Saiyuki and Dragon Ball? How about the movie Forbidden Kingdom? All of them have one thing in common: they are loosely based on one of the four great classic novels of Chinese literature, Journey to the West. Remember just how pumped up you all must have felt while watching them?

We can now again experience that same adrenaline rush as Cubizone recently released Journey to the West International, developed by XiaoYou Information Tech Co. Ltd. An oriental fantasy MMORPG, it is a fast-paced free-to-play game following the classic literature's mythical storyline and features a unique psyche combat system.

The game is in CBT Phase 2 from November 17-20, 2014.

Abubot.ph: A Filipino Geek's Online Store Haven

It was just a couple of weeks ago when I was talking to my aunt in the US about the lack of geek merchandise stores here in the Philippines while those that do sell the stuff are prone to sell them like they're gold: totally expensive. I kept telling her how I wish some kind geek genius would come up with something to help bring affordable items to the delight of every fandom here in the country.

Lo and behold, Abubot.ph made my dream come true.

Abubot.ph is a website that caters to the merchandise needs of every geek at a very affordable and reasonable price with the convenience of online shopping. The brainchild of Mr. Mon Macutay (AKA GM Tristan), former marketing director of Level Up! Philippines and CEO of Big Ideas Social Media Inc, the site is indeed a blessing to the Filipino geek because they deliver the items anywhere in the country.

As an added bonus, they are also open to providing an avenue for budding entrepreneurs who want to sell their items via consignment. The items would not just be posted on the site - the Abubot.ph team would also do the inventory, payment solutions and shipping.

Although still in its beta phase, they are already offering several items ranging from shirts to geek novelty. For payment methods, they accept Paypal, Credit Card, Money Transfer and Bank Deposits. Less hassle, more geekery!

Follow their Facebook page and please do check out their site for more details.

Let us support our fellow geeks!

Dragon Nest 2.0: More Than Just The Level 70 Cap

While this may be old news to some people, Dragon Nest 2.0 will no longer have suffixes and potentials for weapons and armour, instead; a new system known as the "Dragon Jade System" will be implemented.

Furthermore, Dragon Nest's level 70 cap a.k.a. Dragon Nest 2.0 also includes some other new features to the game, including:

The Auction System (you can now put your items on auction and the highest bidder will receive the item which marks the end of the "S> [insert item here] BO NONR No Noob" days.)
Talisman (not sure what this is about, but it seems as though they are, basically, heraldries/suffixes.)
New Accessories (of some kind)
5 New Abyss Dungeons (Sand Sea, Lost Moon Desert, Golden Steppe, Bronze Forest Path and Lunar Eclipse Canyon.)
Higher-Grade Gems (for level 70 gear)
New Fairies (probably like the dogs/cats/manticores/etc. that can give you some extra stats.)

Enough babbling! Let's get to the update's features!

The Razer Ouroboros and Why I've Always Wanted to Have It

You need only one look at the Ouroboros to tell it’s marketed as a premium product from Razer. There are no cardboard boxes (however sturdy) for this mouse: it comes in a see-through cube, replete with a little stand, with its packaging and manuals tucked away in the base. It’s like an expensive airplane model, made with love and mounted in a fibreglass box for the world to admire.

The Ouroboros is named after the serpent forever doomed to eat its tail, and it’s easy to draw some similarity between that cyclic symbol and the ambidextrous mouse. Unlike some of its cousins, Razer’s Ouroboros mouse is for both left and right handers, which makes it a good buy – if you’re willing to drop the cash on it.

Yulgang 2 SEA Review: Open Beta

The sequel to the original Yulgang (Scions of Fate in the west), Yulgang 2 forgoes the originals anime style graphics in favor of a more realistic take. The events in Yulgang 2 take place 30 years after the original Yulgang in a time where the Factions of Order and Chaos are at war. Players will have a chance to participate in Yulgang 2′s open Realm vs. Realm combat.

Yulgang 2 uses a free-aiming action combat system which allows players to chain abilities together for more powerful attacks. Players can even perform aerial combos using the Air Dash system which allows players to leap into the air and glide. Players may even find themselves standing high above the ground in the branches of a tree.

Final Fantasy Redeems Itself With Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

In the beginning there was Final Fantasy XIV, and it was not good. For most games, the story would’ve ended there. But Square Enix, perhaps feeling that its prized franchise's name was in danger of becoming too literal, undertook a mammoth effort to keep Final Fantasy’s legacy from being marred by such a disaster. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is the resulting do-over, and it’s a huge success on both PC and PlayStation 3. Beautiful, fun, and only a bit uneven in the late game, this dramatic reinvention easily establishes itself as one of the most sincere and effective apologies in gaming history.

How To Find The Perfect Game

I chanced upon this funny yet creative algorithm in IGN.com while I was looking for MMO news. It was fun tracing my path towards the next game I'd probably play but it's weird I kept landing on games I know I wouldn't play anyway (HAHA!).

I won't say it's useless, but hey, you wouldn't know what you'd enjoy unless you actually try it. :P

This flow chart has all sorts of games and it gets pretty interesting. So go on and try it out!

Ragnarok Online 2: Swordsman Guide

The identified "tank" of RO2, the Swordsman class is a melee class dependent on close range battles. They are generally the first person to take damage and deliver damage in a battle, fighting on the frontlines of a battle. A Novice can become a Swordsman after a certain requirement, at this time unknown, is met. The Swordsman relies on damage skills, though it also has several powerful defensive skills. It can successfully fight high level monsters much higher than its level due to its high HP and damage ratio. Most of its attacks center around dealing damage, though some are geared towards dealing damage towards more than one target at the same time. It is severely limited in ranged attacks, however. In RO1, a swordsman could advance to either a Knight or Crusader at job level 40-50. The Knight, which is an improvement on the Swordsman's damage dealing ideal, relies on high damage skills. A Crusader, who is more of a battlemage, relies on a balance of both damage skills and buff skills. It is unknown at this point if the Knight or Crusader will be introduced into RO2.

Dragon Nest KR Adds Kali to Character Line-up

Dragon Nest KR has updated their servers with the introduction of the 6th class, the Kali, into the fore.

The Kali, also known as the Dancer, uses dual fans for weapons (remember Kitana in Mortal Kombat?) and is loaded with unique buffs and debuffs with styles that could either be based on paper or darkness. She is an ideal character to use if you are fond of attack speed.

I'm sure Dragon Nest SEA will soon be able to get a taste of the skillful Kali.
