Brave Frontier RPG: A Review

When you're stuck in an island with a non-gaming laptop, where do you turn to for your gaming needs? Your smartphone!

That's exactly what happened to me for the past 4 days. I brought the smaller laptop, thus cannot handle my usual online games. Thus I downloaded Brave Frontier RPG on my phone.

Why? Simply because it's just my style: a turn-based RPG that is set in a fantasy world - in this game, the Grand Gaia - where everyone is depending on you to save them.

But I got so hooked to it that I figured I should share it with everyone.

Cabal 2 Recruits Players for Open Beta

Many players have participated in the Focus Group Testing for Cabal 2, stating how they were feeling about the game. The team of developers got some pretty great feedback from the FGT.

When visiting the CABAL II official English website, it is now recruiting players and allowing players to sign up Beta Test.

Meanwhile, the CABAL II development team released a wave of concept arts, showing details on dresses, gears, heads of CABAL II characters. Take a peek at them.

Critter Camp Comes Out With a Bang for the iOS

A new mobile game app created by a team of Pinoy misfits of the local game development industry has just been launched and is now wreaking havoc on iPhone screens.

Ever since the rise in popularity of monster trainer games like Pokemon and Monster Rancher, many developers have sought to follow in their wake. At first glance, Critter Camp seems to be just another one of those games, going on a series of quests to level up and what not. What sets it apart however, is how you build up your critters’ stats.

Mini Games

Critter Camp introduces four different mini games – The Pit, Tracks, Gym and Library, which would give your critter different stat attributes.

The Shame in Filipino Online Gamers?

I have always been proud of being a gamer - specifically an online gamer - but have always been hesitant of admitting that I am a Filipino gamer.

Before my fellow Filipinos start bashing me with their usual Pinoy pride, please allow me to explain why.

In my long years of online gaming, both locally and internationally, Filipinos have always been generalized to be rude and obnoxious players and are the number one suspects whenever there are incidents of scamming and cheating in-game. It's not something that bothers me when I'm playing a locally distributed online game but if I'm in the SEA server, it's like an arrow to the jugular.

Dragon Nest Assassin Abyss Walker Skill Build

Dragon Nest SEA certainly knows a thing or two about keeping players on the edge. This time they did it by holding back a little bit on the Assassin excitement by releasing only the Chaser job type. There's nothing bad about it since Chasers are really cool and the Assassin's a welcome addition to the DN SEA character roster.

But of course every DN SEA player knows just how more cool the Bringer job type is.

To be specific, what makes the Bringer cool is the Abyss Walker branch of it. Abyss Walkers are the next Bringer class that can deal both DPS and support. Depending on the skills you allocate will also depend on the role he will play as a Abyss Walker. If you are really into PvE then I suggest buying the dual skill tree and just making them one Support and one Damage build. The both builds will determine if you can heal in the nest or raid.

Abyss Walkers can DPS and deal insane amount of damage but what they cannot do is what the Light Fury can do. Light Furies will still outshine them just that he is more versatile and can deal both damage and support if he wants but still remember if you are playing Support please play as one and not start dealing damage in the middle of the nest.

Pros:
  • Considered DPS but not really needed for damage.
  • Not really discriminated due to the role he plays.
  • Stacking dark attack is really easy.
  • AIs are much smarter then Academics.
  • Insufficient MP is no longer a problem for Bringers or other classes.
  • Good for PvP as EX really helps in chaining skills together.
Cons:
  • Could be boring as you don’t get to deal damage most of the time.
  • SP constraints for your skills.
  • Takes experience to be a real good Abyss Walker.

Dragon Nest Assassin Light Fury Skill Build

The Assassin finally gets the Bringer skill tree in Dragon Nest SEA!

Cherry Credits, the official publisher of Dragon Nest SEA, and Mr. Addison Kang, its producer, recently announced that the Assassin will be having its other second job real soon as it will be released during the game's 980 Mark.

So in light of this announcement, I immediately went to work right away to try and shed light on what could possibly be the best skill build for the Bringer types, namely the Light Fury and Abyss Walker, and what better way to do so that to first work on Light Fury!

Light Fury is the next support class to join along side the healers of Dragon Nest. Light Fury has some really cool skills that allow it to support real well and buff and debuff allies and is a good companion in whatever you do. A Light Fury is supposed to stack on VIT items like an Elestra always remember you are there for support and not damage. Only deal damage if your party has done their burst DPS skills, most of the time you just need to observe and cast summons to help you deal damage throughout the raid.

NOTE: Bringers can only use Dagger as their main weapon, if you use a Scimitar you would be unable to cast any Bringer skills. All Assassins stack AGI and not STR. STR is their second stat.

Pros:
  • One of the best supports we have now in Dragon Nest.
  • Considered DPS but not really needed for damage.
  • AIs are much smarter then Academics.
  • Insufficient MP is no longer a problem for Bringers or other classes.
Cons:
  • Could be boring as you don’t get to deal damage most of the time.
  • Stacking elemental damage could be hard.
  • SP constraints for your skills.
  • You really need experience to be a good Light Fury.

The Razer Ouroboros and Why I've Always Wanted to Have It

You need only one look at the Ouroboros to tell it’s marketed as a premium product from Razer. There are no cardboard boxes (however sturdy) for this mouse: it comes in a see-through cube, replete with a little stand, with its packaging and manuals tucked away in the base. It’s like an expensive airplane model, made with love and mounted in a fibreglass box for the world to admire.

The Ouroboros is named after the serpent forever doomed to eat its tail, and it’s easy to draw some similarity between that cyclic symbol and the ambidextrous mouse. Unlike some of its cousins, Razer’s Ouroboros mouse is for both left and right handers, which makes it a good buy – if you’re willing to drop the cash on it.

Yulgang 2 SEA Review: Open Beta

The sequel to the original Yulgang (Scions of Fate in the west), Yulgang 2 forgoes the originals anime style graphics in favor of a more realistic take. The events in Yulgang 2 take place 30 years after the original Yulgang in a time where the Factions of Order and Chaos are at war. Players will have a chance to participate in Yulgang 2′s open Realm vs. Realm combat.

Yulgang 2 uses a free-aiming action combat system which allows players to chain abilities together for more powerful attacks. Players can even perform aerial combos using the Air Dash system which allows players to leap into the air and glide. Players may even find themselves standing high above the ground in the branches of a tree.

League of Legends' Holiday Mode

First up, Happy Holidays, everyone!

What's been up and happening since I got swallowed by internship's hospital duties? Let's just say I have somehow cured myself of my online gaming addiction - only to move to PSP addiction, particularly Dissidia and NBA Live (Perhaps I will delve into other platforms eventually and rename this blog?). But that's not the point I'm posting here.

Riot Games has unveiled the temporary Snowdown Showdown mode for League of Legends. The Snowdown will be around until January 2nd, during which players will be able to compete in 1 vs. 1 or 2 vs. 2 duels on the Howling Abyss map. In addition, tons of holiday festivities have been added to the free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA).

For those who want to show their Snowdown spirit, champions including Lulu, Singed, and Sivir all get festive holiday skins this year. You can even purchase a few Legacy Snowdown skins from past celebrations. Riot's also spreading the holiday cheer with free seasonal sight and vision wards that look like snowmen and a gingerbread Teemo.

If Snowdown is your favorite holiday, completing various achievements during the event will earn you Snowdown Summoner Icons that you can use all year. Things like participating in a five-man pre-made and purchasing various gifts will unlock the special icons.

Speaking of gifts, since Snowdown is a time for sharing, Riot has implemented a gifting feature to the League of Legends store, allowing folks to send mystery skins and champions.

Final Fantasy Redeems Itself With Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

In the beginning there was Final Fantasy XIV, and it was not good. For most games, the story would’ve ended there. But Square Enix, perhaps feeling that its prized franchise's name was in danger of becoming too literal, undertook a mammoth effort to keep Final Fantasy’s legacy from being marred by such a disaster. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is the resulting do-over, and it’s a huge success on both PC and PlayStation 3. Beautiful, fun, and only a bit uneven in the late game, this dramatic reinvention easily establishes itself as one of the most sincere and effective apologies in gaming history.
